Who would have thought that the School of Saint John Bosco would have a fully functional website for free in just a few days? With God’s intervention, nothing is impossible! The building of the site was conceptualized one early night inside a van when SSJB School Administrator Rhodora Articona casually discussed her wish to have a school website with one of the passengers, who happened to be a systems/web developer. Although the developer was not really into developing websites, but more into developing web applications and back-end systems for his US-based clients, he became interested in building the school website at zero fee not simply because the school lacked the fund but, more importantly, because he believed in the school’s thrust of promoting quality Catholic education that focuses on excellence, social responsibility and moral values formation for the community youth. The developer was largely inspired by the humanitarian views expressed by Mrs. Articona and another passenger who happened to be a Catholic and an advocate of youth welfare and development. One passenger volunteered to become the site’s Content Manager. And just like that, ssjbc.com was born in an instant! There are at least three potential benefits for having the school website. Firsly, SSJB aims to use the website to serve as source of news, updates, calendar activities, official announcements and inspirations for students, parents, teachers and other stakeholders. Secondly, with its success sustained largely by donations it obtained from generous individuals and organizations, SSJB hopes that the website could serve as a way to let the donors cherish the school’s contribution to youth education, thereby inspiring them and other prospective donors around the world to continue their support in anyway they can. Lastly, SSJB intends to enable the parents of existing and prospective students have a glimpse of the kind of Catholic education that their children get, or will get from the school.
