A School is a gift from God. It is a road that leads to God. If it belongs to him it will remain established whatever hindrances it will through.
The School of Saint John Bosco is a living proof of his testimony; the institutions has remarkably experience growth not just in numbers but also in spiritual formation. This we believe in, because of the School’s mission of serving quality education laden with Christian values.
How does this happen? One answer I suppose is that of the strong foundation of the School, the men behind it and their clean intention of helping the community.
Unlike well known private schools, SSJB had experienced difficulties before it was established. Money was always in short supply placing difficulties in the construction. It is sad to note that even some local people who would benefit from the School remained cold, indifferent and somewhat hostile. But then in the year 1990, five years after the establishment of Calumpang Parish Church, Rev. Fr. Dominic Curto, S.D.B. (or “Lolo” to town folks) and Ms. Ma. Rhodora Articona (or Dory to her town mates) inspired by the wisdom of the Holy Paraclete wavered and faced the brunt of all the difficulties until a three story building and an added G.I. roof in lieu of a fourth floor was erected.
Soon the community witnessed the opening of the kindergarten school along with sewing school for women in the community. The funds for this School came from the German Government, the Salesian Mission Procure and Italian Benefactors as well.
The School continues to be blessed, for a grade was added every year till the School established a complete elementary course. To speed up matters, the School became branch of the Immaculate Concepcion Catholic School of Sta. Cruz (Laguna’s capital). From then on, the Salesian Fathers managed the School up to the Year 2000 due to the efforts of the good Fr. Louie Castaneda.
In view of certain circumstances and with the turn of events, the School branched off to stand by itself as School of Saint John Bosco under its own administrative body, under the supervision of the Salesian Society of Saint John Bosco.
The School moves step higher in 2009 until to date. From kindergarten, it has now completed the secondary levels and has started to reap the fruits of everybody’s efforts (despite the many challenges) through God’s grace. The Administrative Body, faculty and staff continue molding God-loving/fearing and globally competitive students, and giving quality education laden with Christian values.
